The National Assembly's Standing Committee on Information has decided to summon Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal, chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), over the broadsheet issue.
The National Assembly Standing Committee on Information has decided to summon the Chairman NAB at its next meeting.
This was stated by Javed Latif, Chairman, Standing Committee on Information, National Assembly, while addressing a meeting of the committee.
He asked why and how the money was given to Broadsheet. Why billions of rupees were paid from the people's tax due to the mistake of the institution?
Javed Latif said that Chairman NAB should appear in the next meeting and give a detailed briefing on the broadsheet case.
During the meeting, the chairman of the committee Javed Latif and the Minister of Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz had a heated exchange.
Shibli Faraz asked the chairman of the committee what is the relationship of the chairman of NAB with this committee?
Javed Latif replied that he was jealous of the government over the NAB issue.
Shibli Faraz said that if the chairman NAB is to be called then the rest of the characters of Broadsheet should also be called.
Javed Latif said that when another committee asked to call the chairman NAB on the issue of broadsheet, its meeting was adjourned.
The chairman of the committee also said that if the information minister wants, the chairman can call the NAB representative for a briefing. If the NAB representative could not be satisfied, then the chairman would have to be summoned.
PPP leader Nafisa Shah said that the broadsheet case had badly affected Pakistan's image at all levels.
Later, while talking to Geo News, Chairman Standing Committee on Information Mian Javed Latif said that the Chairman NAB was being called for a meeting to explain on the broadsheet.
He also said that Pakistan's jug was laughed at on the broadsheet. Do you know why the name of NAB is mentioned in it? The Information Minister was told in the committee that he had no objection to summoning the Chairman NAB.
